I agree! In fact, I plan to have one just like it by the time I am a Grandpa! :)

He looks a little like he has toothache...if he does, I pity him.
Whatever he is feeling though, it's a pretty good expression. :)

Toothache! I like it :D
It's funny the number of different emotions that have been ascribed to this expression. It goes to show how valuable it is to show it to a whole lot of fresh eyes.

It's great that its so subjective...anyone can identify with it, and the fact that there are so many different interpretations is really interesting. :)

Big noses are so much fun to draw :)
I meant to capture him in mid-guffaw but still have a little work to do there...

I can see that. The hardest part to figure out on him was the eyes. It is difficult to tell whether or not they are closed. Anyways, for a quicker sketch its great!

I appreciate your comments - I so often see my finished work with blinkers on. I hadn't considered the ambiguity in his expression and you are not the first one to notice it :)

So what exactly do the "blinkers" do when you see with them?...LOL!

Prevent me from seeing what I am looking at in a different light :) It happens a lot with my work. I look at it for so long I miss the mistakes and ambiguities.

I figured that's what you meant but I believe the term would be "blinders" then? Maybe our lingo is different here in the U.S. - although blinkers just doesn't make sense to me then. :giggle:

There you go - definitely "blinkers" here although, I agree, "blinders" makes more sense.
Here in Australia "blinder" is a term often used to describe someone's stellar performance on the sporting field, ie "he/she played a blinder today!". Go figure :D
